Jose Mari Chan Trends on Twitter, 115 Days til Christmas
It is officially the start of "Ber" months, which means Christmas season is here and Pinoy netizens began to share Christmas-related posts on Twitter making "Christmas" and "Jose Mari Chan" trend on the popular social networking site.
The recurring popularity of Jose Mari Chan's "Christmas in our Hearts" has made the Filipino singer-songwriter and businessman a household name especially during the annual festive season. The song was originally released in 1990. Twenty-seven years later, it is still being played every holiday season. It is a Christmas classic.
Filipinos have the longest Christmas celebration. The beginning of the Pinoy countdown to Christmas starts on September 1 and spans on until December 25. During the "Ber" months, some people would start hanging Christmas lights and parols not only in their houses but also out in the streets. Some baranggays would even exert as much effort such as using old soda bottles or anything that they can recycle to make lanterns that they post in the street poles. For Pinoys, the "Ber" months is an important period to begin planning and preparing Christmas.
Today also marks the annual religious Islamic pilgrimage, which is one of the most important dates in the Islamic Calendar, Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice).
